Wow
Reading a great book...it's a young adult book (according to Amazon, it's for grades 7-10), but pretty powerful nonetheless. The book is The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne.

Aww, Subway...I Missed You Too!
First day back at work after maternity leave :(
Pretty uneventful, until the commute home...wherein I had the distinct pleasure to have the Manhattan Transit Authority decide to have trains bypass my station just as I was entering. This necessitated a trek in the rain to the next subway stop to wait for the train there, along with the rest of New York. The sheer volume of people was such that the entire length of the subway platform was completely filled to capacity and my friend and I were stuck on the stairs. So, to sum up, pretty crowded.
A stroke of luck (or a logical decision by the stationmaster) brought a completely empty subway car into the station, and we were fortunately able to get on. Also on board? The afternoon's entertainment.
As you might expect, the train car got pretty packed. All of a sudden, from the other end of the car, we hear a woman shouting "get off of me! get off of me!" over and over. Apparently, this guy was standing too close to her. I mean, I couldn't see anything, but we were all sort of tightly packed in, so I'm not entirely sure that this guy was a pervert. Not satisfied with her constant refrain of "get off of me!" She decided to try a new tactic, entitled "make the entire train laugh hysterically." Ready? Here goes:
"I can feel your penis on me! Get your floppy ass penis away!"
I'm in no way trying to make light of this woman's (possible) plight. All I'm saying is that her reaction to the offense, real or imagined, was all kinds of awesome.
It's things like this that make having to go back to work completely worthwhile.
