Baggage (Updated AGAIN: This time, with actual words)

(I just tried posting this from Flickr one trillion times and it did NOT go well, in that the actual post accompanying the pictures below didn't transfer. Lesson learned. Anyway:)

Hola, Isabel is the inspiration for today's post. She is wonderful for many reasons, not the least of which being that she and I share the same philosophy on baby boy clothes (i.e., Death to Pooh, long live the pint-sized concert tee). Her post today displayed the contents of her bag and invited others to do the same. After I had a (frankly not all that surprising) droolfest over her beauty products, I decided to play along: Some highlights:

New flip flops -- These were purchased today. Were you aware that Nine West started carrying Havaianas, my absolute favorite flip flops? For I was not. I'm not going to question why, but only revel in their glory, and the surprising ease with which I was able to find a pair of black ones in my size. (Size 7 is always the first to go...SO WHY DON'T THE STORES ANTICIPATE THIS, AND ORDER MORE, THEN?! ARGGGGGHHH!). Ahem.

TOO MANY lip products -- I think I have a problem. I must give a shout-out to my email buddy (and ridiculously talented photographer) Nabbalicious for turning me on to the wonders of Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker, featured below. It gives a perfect hint of shine, has a touch of sheer color, and tastes yummy. Also? It costs like 12 cents (okay, maybe $1.50). I don't care what color your lips are, this WILL look great on you; buy it.
While we're on the subject...If you have dark brown eyes, as I do, I heartily recommend the following eyeliners, both in the picture above (next to my all-time favorite mascara)--Marine by Chanel (it's black with a hint of deep blue and moss, which sounds like a mess, but really makes your eyes "pop"), and the significantly cheaper Dark Green (original!) by Prestige. I use the latter verrrrrry sparingly, as too much of it can and will make you look like you work hard for your money, if you know what I mean, and I think that you do. Just a touch, however, will give you a certain je ne se quois. (French for "that which does not make you look like a whore.")

Birthday Invitations -- Toopweets' first birthday is rapidly approaching, hence the pile of outgoing mail. (Hey, anyone have any idea what I should do with the invited children when they actually attend the party? Seriously. I'm scared.)

Red Wallet -- I was pickpocketed a while back, and that wallet was what the douchebag decided to take. It had been a gift from my mother-in-law, and I really loved it, so I was quite sad to see it go. A few weeks later, I received a package in the mail; inside was was my wallet. Everything was missing except for my license (hence how the mysterious angel person was able to return it to me), but it was back all the same. I know I bemoan the hobo situation here with some regularity, but it's things like this that remind me of how much I love New York.

Granola Bar -- Look how prepared I seem! A granola bar, just in case I need a quick snack, right? In actuality, I have literally no idea when this found its way into the black hole of my bag, and it only really serves to illustrate that it's really really time to clean that sucker out.

What about you guys? What's in your bags? Let me know if you post a picture (especially if said picture contains beauty products of any sort).

OMG1 I saw that Dr Pepper Lipsmacker and thought, does she have it too? I've had it on and off since 6th grade. Currently, I have 3-- one in my bag, one in a coat, and one in a pair of pants. I never finish them, and I always lose them. Good thing they are like $1!

Ha! I have Dr. Pepper Lipsmacker in my purse too, though mainly for nostalgic purposes. I wore it every single day during the 1977-1978 school year. (Um, it's not the same tube, though. I do clean out my purse every few years.)

WHY can't I ever read one of your posts without immediately wanting to buy more makeup? WHHYYYYYYY?

I'm pretty sure you beat me on the number of lipsticks. Dude, that's like an entire make-up case you've got there.

Someone mailed you your wallet? How freakin' cool is that? (It's very cool.)

Um yeah, good luck with the birthday party ideas. I have no advice. NONE. (Because I suck.)

Thanks for playing along. It's always fun to see that I'm not the only freak that carries around a ton of make-up.

(Wait, you're not a freak.)

I'm thinking I should start a Dr Pepper Lipsmackers blog! Hello, all you people out there! I didn't know there were so many of us. I like to buy a bunch of tubes at ones and just scatter them around so they're never too far away.

Metalia, that's crazy that your wallet was mailed back to you, but nice.

I'll post a pic of what's in my bag later this week, maybe. I should do it while it's still neat and organized.

I actually considered doing a "Let's review all the various lip products in my bag and purse" post a few weeks ago when I realized just what a ridiculous number of them I had and all the many places I have stashed them. Perhaps I'll still do that. Or perhaps I'll pick up this "what's in your bag" one.

I bought the Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker after Nabbalicious wrote about it for about the hundredth time, and I loved it for about two weeks and then suddenly I think I became allergic to it. Weird reaction on my lips and I honestly think the Dr. Pepper was to blame. So sad. :-(

I actually meant "in my home and purse," not "bag and purse," as obviously bag and purse are essentially the same.

That wasn't really worthy of a second comment, but you do know I like to be precise, right?

I didn't realize that there were others who loved Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker like I do!! Love it! Love it! Love it!

In the event of nuclear fallout, I choose YOU to accompany me in a bunker. You're prepared for anything!

I spent many hours eating Dr. Pepper lip smackers as a small child. In the late 70's, Bonnie Bell made this flavor and a couple other soda flavors (7-Up and Orange Crush, I recall) in jumbo size tubes. Lots of chewing pleasure for three year old me. Okay, I'm a weirdo.

How's your fancypants PDA working out for you? I'm tempted to get one.

Can we discuss the Shout Wipes? Do they work? I definitely need some kind of stain remover thing for my bag.

HI! I did this on my blog. FUN!

I totally just did this the other day on my site! I have to admit, I'm a bit relieved you have more lip product than I do. I was beginning to think I had a problem.

MAYBE the pickpocket took your wallet and left the granola bar. Sort of a payback for the lift?

Anything is possible in this crazy mixed up world.

Tag, you're it. See post for details.

I am a flip-flop freak, and am therefore shocked that I have never heard of Havaianas. What makes them wonderful? Are they worth the $10 price difference over Old Navy? I am so curious!

Julianna -- I also have a number of them; I leave them everywhere.

TOG -- I knew I loved you. ;)

Whoorl -- Bwahaha...my work here is done.

Isabel -- What's scary is that the contents of my actual makeup bag far eclipses anything in that picture.

Nabbs -- I cannot thank you enough for bringing this wondrous gloss into my life.

Stefanie -- Ooh, definitely do the "what's in your bag" post! Pretty please?

Plain Jane -- Seriously, how awesome is it?!

LVGurl -- I am in total *love* with the PDA; It's the Palm...something something. 700? Maybe? As you can see, I'm well-versed in the world of cell smartphone technology. In any case, it's amazing, and I highly recommend it.

R -- They're definitely useful; my only qualm is that when you use them on pale colors, they leave a bit of a mark.

Lizarita -- Awesome; I'll check it out.

Nancypearlwannabe -- I'm glad my insane lip gloss addiction serves some purpose. ;)

LA Daddy -- Haha! I love your optimism.

Little Miss Mel -- Nice! Let me know when you post it.

Jessica -- I have a ton of the Old Navy flip flops, too; I just like these better b/c they're rubber, so they're more durable, and they retain their shape.

Yay for tiny packs of Kleenex - and how neat about someone returning your wallet!

I think I'm going to dump out my purse and do this, too.
