An Announcement

Lately, I've been getting questions from some of you lovely ladies about my plans to go to BlogHer.

And guys? I can definitively say that I will not be going to BlogHer this year…I just don't think it's a good idea. And it's not because of my fear of flying, my unfortunate habit of reporting potential terrorists who in actuality turn out to be AIR MARSHALS PROTECTING MY PLANE, or because I may already be going to San Francisco next month. No, it's something much simpler than that. You see, I think I'm going to have trouble finding a roommate. I'm no expert, but I firmly believe that I'll be hard-pressed to find someone willing to room with me…and my baby.

More specifically, THIS baby...

...who, if all goes well, should be a few weeks old by the time BlogHer rolls around.

That's right, people; I'm pregnant. (Just like Jessica Alba!) Baby #2 is due the end of June, and J and I couldn't be happier. (Scared shitless, mind you, but happy all the same.) T doesn't really get what's going on (being that he's all of 19 months old), but I have taught him to kiss my belly, so...that's a start towards a loving, sibling-rivalry-free relationship, right? RIGHT?? IN THE NAME OF ALL THING HOLY, TELL ME THAT IT IS!

I don't have much more information yet, other than that: (A) I can promise you I will never, EVER refer to my stomach as a "baby bump," and(B) Heather B. has christened (Jewened?) my unborn child Eliot Amani for reasons that only we can understand, so I'm wide open to suggestions for a nickname. (Toopweets 2.o just isn't working for me.)

Oh, and I'm also going to take this opportunity to blame my sporadic posting/commenting of late on the fact that I've spent the past four months HURLING NONSTOP, and falling asleep in my work clothes at 7:00 nearly every night.

You can forgive me, right?

Congratulations to you! Such wonderful news!!!

Yay! It's public news!

I liked the "Holla" photo.

I am sad you will not be at BlogHer, but am excited about the new addition.

My kids get along famously (for the most part) and I am sure yours will too :)

CONGRATS! I am shocked. And excited. And also jealous that Heather B. gave your fetus such a cool name. She christened Babboo "Bob" when I knocked up. Yeah, not as cool.

Again, CONGRATS!

Congratulations! (On the baby, not the hurling.)

I think you should call him either Norbert or Humperdink.

YAY, you spilled the beans!

I almost busted myself commenting on one of your Flickr photos last week. :)

So happy for you guys.

Congratulations! What great news!

OOH! Congratulations!

Didn't you have another name for T? Wasn't it Smedley or something? Use that. Whatever it was, it was completely random and wonderful.

Congrats on the new addition!! It's hard enough being pg with a little one, I can't imagine being as sick as you've been. You're a super star!!

The u/s looks like he/she is around 11 weeks? My little one looked just like that at that stage. only reason I might know that bit of info. :) hehe

CONGRATS!!!

Congratulations!!! I don't think I've commented on your blog before (though I've been reading for a long time now) but this is awesome! And I can't not comment!

Congratulations! To set your mind at ease, I would like to share that my brother and I got along famously. I only tied him to a tree with a jump rope once.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That's great news. I am so happy for you!

Hope you're feeling better! I rebounded both times around 14 weeks, but it wasn't until 18 weeks that I had a tad more energy.

OHHH! Congrats again!

Aaaaah! (And woot!) Aaaaah!

Thrilled. And huzzah!

I love! these sorts of announcements. (I was totally thinking you were. I don't know why. But I was. I was also totally thinking my sister was when I talked to her on the phone tonight for the first time in ten days. I sort of freaked her out I think.)

(Woot!)

Congratulations, lady! I am in awe of your mad mothering skillz.

Eliot Amani is a perfectly acceptable name.

Or Eli Amani. Or fine, if you don't like it, I'm referring to the kid as Plaxico. Plaxico Tynes. The end.

;-)

I am still very, very, happy for you.

I've only commented here once or twice, but I had to say congrats! How very exciting :)

Mazel tov!! So exciting!

I have to admit, I wondered if maybe we had not managed to get together because perhaps you had a little secret bun in the proverbian oven! Now that you've done the Big Reveal, we have to have lunch to celebrate (assuming you can stop hurling for an hour or so)!

I like Humperdink, suggested by -R-, or maybe Ducky. Because who doesn't love Ducky Dale?

Stefanie said...

Wow; congrats!! I still sometimes can't believe your teeny-tiny young little self is the mother of ONE child, and now you will have two!

As for the nickname, don't we need to know if it's a boy or a girl first? I mean, Norbert and Humperdink are both great names, but they seem decidedly masculine, no? (Did you already say it's a boy and I just missed that??)

Susan said...

Woo congratulations!

My boys are 25 months apart and adore each other. In fact, they have entered the phase where they are working together to plot against ME, which is both sweet and totally unnerving.

Yeah, so good luck with that!

Congrats, Metalia! What wonderful news. 2008 seems to be bringing in many babies. Hope you feel better soon. I was sick every day/night for the first 4 months, so I can feel your pain.

Allison said...

Congratulations, Metalia! SOOO Very Exciting!

I'd love to help with the nickname, but I feel like I need to know the story behind "Toopweets" - How'd you come up with that one?

So very excited for another peanut :-)

Lara said...

Woo!! Congratulations!! (Incidentally, I first wrote "congaratulations" which then caused me to picture a bunch of rats in a conga line. Except my rats were more like mice, since those are cuter). So...baby #2 = Conga Mouse?

rebcram said...

METALIA OMG!!!! This is so exciting. Congratulations. I'm about to pop with baby #2 now so it will be so fun to follow along with your pregnancy this time around.

Yay! Yay!

CONGRATULATIONS!

How exciting. Though, have you considered that if Norbert/Humperdinck is as cute as Toopweets, it may cause some sort of shift in the earth's axis, from so much cute concentrating in one place? :)

DE-LURKING to say congrats!!

martialartsdiva said...

De-lurking here too. Congratulations! I read your posts and I don't think there is anything embarrassing about reporting air martials at all. It makes for a great story, sure, but you were quite observant and you were right; their behavior was out of the ordinary. My mother once reported a plainclothes security guard at our local grocers. Well, he was idly looking at cans while he was watching everybody. Suspicious!

anna said...

Congrats! How can we stand another baby as cute as your first one? Methinks it will all be too much!

I think you need to see the baby to know the blog name - then you will be inspired.

More! Babies! More!

Hope you are done with the hurling and get to eat lots of (insert favourite dessert here)soon. I myself am eating boatloads of apple pie. In fact, my kid can say "apple pie" almost clearer than he can say anything else.

Congratulations to you. Happy fat & sassy-growing.
