As you may or may not know, Whitney is trying to start a fashion line. At one point during the episode, we catch a glimpse of Whitney's "sketches," which are--without hyperbole--the worst, most unskilled renderings in the history of anything, ever, and I include therein the drawing of a snowman in a top hat I drew with a ballpoint pen between my toes, drunk, at 3 am one night during college JUST TO SEE IF I COULD.
The point here is that her drawing of shorts? WAS A PICTURE OF TWO SQUARES. ATTACHED. THAT'S IT. And lo, it was HILARIOUS, because everyone is taking her seriously, and talking about what she Needs To Do For The Line, when in fact what she needs to do is back slowwwwly away from the sketchbook. It's...it's important to take stock of yourself and your abilities, which is why I personally have shied away from careers in professional dance, cleaning, and... trigonometry. It all reminded me very much of the scene in Not Another Teen Movie where Jake is talking to Janie about her masterpiece of a painting, describing its beauty, its soulful qualities, and then you see it... and it's a stick figure with a smiley face. I've taken the liberty of reimagining Whitney's sketchbook for you here, based on actual drawing discussed and displayed on the show:
2. Admittedly, humor is subjective, but I was unable to breathe when watching this SNL skit this past weekend. The dipping did me in:
3. I have a post up over at BeautyHacks, and I'm kind of in mad love with the product. (Also? Kind of touched that the creators of the product found the post, and reached out to me via Twitter to thank me. INTERNET MAAAAGIC.)
4. I need help with an admittedly insignificant problem: Does anyone know of a product for hair that gets knotty incredibly easily once the weather turns fall-like? Because the minute I step outside, my hair becomes an untenable rats' nest, and my desperate solution involved stealing my children's detangling spray, and while I am enjoying both the apple scent and its tear-free properties, I am hoping that there is perhaps a more sophisticated answer out there, by which I mean, "a bottle that does not prominently feature a freaky looking purple cartoon octopus." Help.
5. I needed five things, because I'm delightfully OCD like that. Uh...I like pie.

I may or may not be posting about Text Fest later. My own Whitney Port art may or may not be included.
Oh, Text Fest ... Indisputably a highlight of my week. KELLY CITRONELLA FOREVER!
Hey, man, just because cut-out shirts aren't okay in your workplace doesn't mean they're not perfectly okay in others. Like the oldest profession in the world, if you catch my drift.
I almost didn't read this post because I had no idea who Whitney Port is, but I'm glad I did, because you referenced Not Another Teen Movie, which is one of the funniest movies of the last few years. Not many people seem to like that movie.
Your drawings are, I believe, an improvement over Whitney's. Maybe she could hire you!
oh, Whitney. I think it's funny that you have a job, and I, with my degrees in silly things like engineering, can't get a job to save my life right now.
I do mean it - it's funny. (I may be jobless, but I'm commenting on blogs and sipping coffee on a Thursday morning. Really, how bad can my life be if that's the case?)
Maybe I should stop looking for a job and scribble ideas for a new fashion line of flip flops, jelly bracelets, and scrunchies.
I have to say that until last season, and the END of the season on The Hills with the whole wedding nonsense, I was still holding out hope that it was reality. I was living under this imaginary shield that protected me from the overacting and the staged-ness of it all. And now that it is gone, my shield, I'm not enjoying the shows as much because I'm like waking up from a coma and am like "WAIT! This is SO fake!"
I still watch both The Hills and The City every week, though. Religiously.
OMG Guy Fieri was so good it was scary.
I'm having a similar hair problem and the only relief I am getting is from thickening conditioner. My biggest issue seems to be where my jacket rubs at the nape of my neck. HATE.
shit. now i HAVE to start watching. I want in on text fest!
I laugh (at myself) because I visibly cringe every time Kristin Cavallari (Or Speidi, dear goatee in heaven) walks on-screen, and yet, I CANNOT STOP WATCHING.
I haven't been watching The Hills or The City, but I may start now, just based on this post.
Also? Not Another Teen Movie is one of my faves to watch when I'm sick like today.
And for the hair thing, I've been using a bit of Herbal Essence's leave-in conditioner (red pump bottle), and that's helped with a lot of my craziness. Bonus: No giant octopus-bottle.
I just went and watched the City episode after reading this, and I'm totally stuck on the crooked, angsty smile of the blonde girl who works with Olivia. WTF? And why does Whitney care what Roxy has to say about anything! Gah!
Brocato has this really nice spray, leave in conditioner thing - you can get it at Ulta - but honestly, the kids' stuff works just as well. Try the Target version instead of Suave. I use Suave for my five year old and Target for me. Of course, I used the Brocato on her, too. But at $20 versus $4? At least Target's Up and Up line doesn't have that packaging.
I am so sad we only have dialup at home now. I was always watching The Hills and The City on the interwebz...but can't anymore. Darnit!
biosilk hair serum...love it!
I, too, shamefully admit to watching The City. Those sketches were a joke! Is Kelly Cutrone just leading Whitney on so she can humiliate her later? Sad.
If I remember from your photos you have straight hair....but I am fully dedicated to Ouidad Botanical Boost. I had my curly hair cut at the flagship salon, and she is a miracle worker. www.ouidad.com
Her products are amazing!

Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep Smoother does the trick for me, usually. When I need a little more help (i.e. I look like I blew dry my hair with a leaf blower. also known as fall/winter), I use a little Moroccan Oil on it- it's stupid expensive ($42 for 3.something ounces), but works miracles.
I'm sorry I don't watch the Hills- I worry that it would make my head explode.
For your hair - Aveda Smooth Infusion (also helps with styling). Both wind and static hit me in the fall and this helps. It's also great year round, is very light and you can't tell it's there when your hair dries. A dime sized-dollop is all you need.
I would say Frederic Fekkai's glossing cream is the only thing that detangles my hair and doesn't leave it looking like I just didn't wash my hair for two days or make tangles worse.
